أما "بيت خالتي" فهو الاسم المموَّه للسجون السورية، وقد عمل أبطال الرواية على بثّ أخبار الأسرى وأحوالهم وما يدور في المعتقلات السورية من تعذيب وتنكيل وقتل، إنهم ثلاثة أبطال ينتمون إلى طبقة اجتماعية واحدة في دمشق، إلا أنهم رحلوا أخيرًا إلى برلين، وعلى عكس المتوقع، فخروجهم من سوريا كشف لهم الكثير من الأحداث والحقائق، بل إنهم تعرفوا على سوريا من جديد بعد الخروج، لم ينخدعوا في الأخبار الظاهرية التي تملأ الشرائط الإخبارية، بل وصلوا إلى ما وراء الخبر بكثير.. الأبطال هم: أنس خزنجي، وهو مخرج مبدع للأفلام الوثائقية، نور نجار مساعدته الخبيرة بالواقع والوضع السوري المتأزم، وأخيرًا: أنس الغانم، وهو طبيب نفسي بعيد النظر في كل شيء.. كرّسوا جهودهم ومهاراتهم جميعًا لخدمة القضية السورية.
